Taken in our backyard. I backdated the post (need to catch up again!) but Ellie is about 7 weeks old in these.

Why We Haven't Been Blogging

Wed Aug 4th - Our "stuffs" (Noah speak) disappeared into a big truck!

Thu Aug 5th - We rolled around in an empty house!

Fri Aug 6th - Ellie is a month old! We spent about 10 hours driving from D.C. to VA... (normally 4hr trip, but Friday's vacationing traffic was in splendid form!) In the end, we did arrive in our new home!

Sat Aug 7th - Our "stuffs" came back! The boys acted like everything had been gone for months. :)

Enough said. From then until now it has been unpacking, hanging curtains, trips to the hardware store, moving furniture... I have been in go-go-go-let's-get-it-done mode! Michael has been home, which has been wonderful - he isn't starting work until next week, so I can "honey-do" him for a couple more days. The house is looking better and better every day, and we love not only the neighborhood but also the first church we visited last weekend.

Ellie is now 6 weeks and such a delight. Mama's thrilled about her sleeping 6-7 hr stretches most nights! She's filling out nicely (sz 2 diapers and in some 3-6 mo. clothes!) and is exceptionally strong, needing no help with head control or standing up. She's talking to us and cooing up a storm!

Ellie Is a Month Old!

Ellie's first month has been a whirlwind - she arrived right in the middle of our move (thankfully only 4 hrs away this time), and her 1 month milestone day was actually spent in the car driving from Maryland to Virginia. This picture is the day after, when our movers came to unload everything.

Ellie is amazing. She's happy and alert and strong, growing like a mad weed. She's bathed with affection from all of us. The boys love her and check on her throughout the day. "Is baby awake? Is she happy? Is she hungry? You need to give her milk. Hi Ellie, I love you Ellie!" She's very conversant too - cooing and smiling to us.

She loves to stand on her little legs and look around. Our favorite carriers right now are the SleepyWrap and our pouch slings. She's in them, snug and cozy and close to mama, for a good part of the day. She's a good eater and only wakes up once or twice a night to nurse. We are in love!

The Backyard Barbershop - Thing 2

Now Thing 2 here is a little more of a challenge than his older brother... Every time Daddy would even slightly step away from him, he'd ask... "I done?!" But to our sweet tooth, the promise of the rare, coveted lollipop treat works wonders.
