Swimming

We enjoy swimming so much that we are now going twice a week! Daddy joins us for our Saturday morning swim. Braiden is doing so well. He is very comfortable in the water and loves diving and splashing.

Binkies Galore!

Braiden had his 6 month check-up this morning. He is 16lbs 8oz and 27 inches. The poor boy kept signing "all done" the whole time we were there. He got one shot and is now running a low fever. :( To keep him happy, we rounded up all the binkies in the house. Braiden didn't know what to do with himself. He would put one in his mouth, spit it out right away, and find another one!

Daddy Is Home!

Daddy is back home! Braiden has been so happy and easygoing today... and wants nothing to do with Mama. Unless, of course, he is hungry. :)

Sweet Potatoes

Braiden's first taste of solid food. After the first couple of bites, he loved it!!! Also, daddy came home yesterday, and now mommy is chopped liver. :) Braiden is a daddy's boy!

Braiden often parks himself in front of the fireplace because he can see his reflection there. He has also decided that squealing is fun after all (he already stopped it for a couple of weeks)... Of course, when I played the video back to him, he frowned on that baby squealing.

Braiden Is Signing!

He has been signing "all done" yesterday and today! It took me a little while to realize what it was though. He does it by bringing his hands together, clasping them, and then shaking them a little. :) And wow, what a difference, he has been so much happier today! He does it when he's "all done" on the floor, or his walker, high chair... He was doing it repeatedly when I was changing his diaper, and then got mad at me for "ignoring" him. Excuse me, who is the boss here?? Too funny! I'll try to get it on video, but in the meantime, here are some pictures from the other day.

RaZ-Berry and a Battle with an Avocado

Braiden loves his new teether! It is a pacifier with a bumpy texture, to soothe the gums. It can even be refrigerated for added comfort.

In other news... Mama and a stubborn avocado pit went head-to-head today, and the avocado won. 7 stitches. :-D Short story is that I was preoccupied, and the knife slipped between my left hand's ring and middle fingers. Braiden loved the trip to the ER though. Always nice to make new friends with the cute nurses.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!!!

It's Daddy's birthday today, and we are celebrating! Daddy will join the celebration in about a week. :) And not only is it Daddy's birthday...

... Happy 1/2 Birthday to Braiden!

He is growing like a weed. We're not sure how big he is right now, our 6 month check up is in about a week, so we'll update then. We are planning on starting solids with him next week! He has been a milk-a-tarian so far, as a friend's 3-yr-old pointed out (Hi, Rory!!). Braiden is sitting up very well on his own, rolling over, and very interested in the world around him. We are still swimming every week and getting together with friends almost every day. Braiden is sleeping through the night and is a great napper. No teeth yet, but we have been working on it since Christmas! He is scooting a little bit, caterpillar style, but no crawling yet. And we aren't in a hurry, lol!

Braiden has turned out to be a very independent little boy. The times he wants to be held are rare, he would prefer to be scooting around in his walker or bouncing away in his jumperoo. He has started giving hugs though, which is so sweet! Braiden loves his toys too, although his favorites are still mommy's nose, mouth and hair, his own toes and socks, and mommy's computer. We have been using sign language with him for a while now, and he recognizes quite a few signs, such as "all done", "bath", "up". His favorite, however, is "milk". :)

He is a very happy and easy-going boy, with a ready smile and a laugh!

Happy Easter!

Grandma sent us some beautiful tulips, and Braiden enjoyed his very first Easter basket! In it he found a book, new booties, spoons, two sippy cups, plastic eggs, and a new bear lovey. Earlier in the morning he got dressed up in his Easter clothes, and we went to church with our friends Bess and Ellie Claire. Happy Easter everyone!

Braiden has gotten very good with his little scooter! Those of you who know our floor plan, he can almost do the loop! He gets stuck in corners every once in a while, but lets us know when that happens. :)
